What is your interior style?

With our new way of life meaning we are spending so much time in our homes, it’s got me thinking about and appreciating the little home I have created for myself. I find it fascinating how many interior styles there are and how we end up falling naturally into a style when we are let loose on our own home. I spend so much time working with clients bringing their vision to life, syncing together interiors with glazing choices (it’s actually one of my favourite parts of working at Hayley Windows!) but I rarely take a step back to think what my dream home would look like and what glazing choices I would make.

Thankfully I still have plenty of time as I am a (long!) way off my dream home, but purchasing my first property last year has given me a lot more clarity about what my go-to interiors and natural style are. Looking around my home it excites me to do it all again on a larger scale in a few years’ time and actually have the bricks and mortar mirror my interior style.

I definitely get the interior buzz bringing together pieces and finding brands I love for inspiration, even having to save up to purchase! A challenge when creating the interior for your first home is often budget – maybe this played a part in solidifying my style. The country, shabby chic, vintage, sometimes industrial look is an affordable approach and the up-cycling potential is endless!

If I was thinking today about upgrading my apartment to a house, I would definitely be installing The Residence Collection, in particular the R9 window system paired with Crittal Style Smarts Architectural Aluminium doors. These ranges are at the luxury end of the glazing game…. I best start saving!

Having social media, blogs, Pinterest etc is amazing to help get inspiration from different people’s styles and opens up the opportunity to find quirky pieces of art, homeware and furniture. A few of my regular go to brands for inspiration and purchasing are Cox & Cox, The Cotswold Co, Little Green Paint Company, Farrow & Ball, Annie Sloane, Emma Bridgewater, The White Company, Wayfair and Nkukulife just to name a few. I really recommend you look them up if you’re not already familiar with them and I’d love to hear any of your recommendations!

Thank you to everyone out there doing DIY projects, creating your dream homes and documenting your journeys online for people like me to follow and get inspired, whilst waiting in the wings to start working on my own dream home!
