Meet Kerry who has two children, works part time helping Young adults with Learning Disabilities. Has a passion for Interior design, loves stalking Pinterest and now has her own successful Instagram renovation page!
The Project in Kerry's words:
To renovate our first home, we took the whole house back to brick starting again and then added a wrap around extension which involved moving our front door from the side of the house to the front.
Have you always intended or planned to take on a project?
Yes! we knew when we bought our first house we would want to renovate it all so we put our own stamp on it.
When did you move into your property?
We got the keys April 2018.
Where is your go to place for home inspiration and renovation ideas?
Pinterest & Instagram I love having a look at other home interior accounts for inspiration.
Have you taken this on solo or have you had an architect / project manager assist?
My partners family are all in the trade so we did it all within our family. However we did have an architect draw up our plans.
Have you lived in the property while renovating, if so how has this been?
When we Renovated I was 6 months pregnant so lived at my Mum's. However during the extension wrap around I have lived at home with 2 children (a 3 year old & 1 year old) safe to say it has been chaos!
Do you have any favourite brands / designers / styles?
I am totally in awe of the Scandi vibes at the minute including monochrome, white and plenty of house plants! A designer I love is Kelly Hoppen, some of her decor is gorgeous.
My favourite decor shops on Instagram are definitely Deargracehome & MelodyMaison
other businesses I love are myfurniture they have some stunning bespoke pieces.
Did you set a budget for the works?
Yes we had a budget, which we have gone over....this is the reality of doing a project! It is good to set a budget, but not be to unrealistic and always ensure to get the finish you set out to achieve.
What is the timescale planned or is the project an ongoing labour of love?
We started august 2019 and were hoping to have it finished December 2019, however we completed February 2020.
Would you take on another project or is this your forever home?
100% ready to take on another project in the future!
How do you find the best way to approach making decisions on fixtures / fittings / products?
I always look for inspiration and then add my own twist, so I am not copying like for like when spotting pieces or styles.
Would you say you have gone with a theme or style for your property overall?
We have definitely gone for a modern clean white / grey approach inside. But want to keep it more 1940's outside so we are in keeping with the street and avoid taking away the identity of the overall building.
What made your decision to start sharing your journey online?
When we renovated I knew I wanted to put it all on Instagram to help motivate and inspire people.
How has the response been?
It has gone so well I started my account august 2018 and I now have 130,000 genuine followers :)
What content do you like to share with your followers?
Home improvements, room ideas/decor, and bargain buys!
It has been great to meet Kerry and be apart of her fantastic renovation, installing her #solidor
