We have been looking forward to revealing this project we completed earlier in the year, patiently we have been waiting for spring, to take full advantage of the splendid weather and gardens to showcase this stunning property in all of its glory!
The homeowners came to us over a year ago with their initial plans to upgrade their traditional home; understandably this has been a long process and a relationship that has flourished over time. At Hayley windows we take on a project with heart and soul, building a relationship with our customer is the key to a smooth and successful renovation. We encourage homeowners to take their time, go back and forth with product and design ideas as much as they wish. We are here through the early stages as a support and guide to help bring the best out in the property but also understand and reflect their design taste.
Our advised product choice was The Residence Collection window casements, being the alternative to timber retaining the properties character. The main focus was to bring more light into the property, opting for a white internal finish always makes a dramatic difference when changing from dark wood. Externally there were a few more ideas bounced around, we all felt it was important to retain the character and be sympathetic to the stunning countryside surroundings, but also add a modern element. Lighter grey and green colour tones always work well with older properties, we decided on Painswick the perfect balance. The decision to remove the current lead work allows more light to flood in, opening up each room and taking advantage of the spectacular gardens, also continuing to modernise the overall look.
We then explored the front door and porch area, this was a more tasking area to tackle. As it stood the front entrance was very grand and beautiful so we indented to replicate this as best as possible but with more durable modern materials with minimal maintenance compared to the wood in situ. We decided on a Solidor composite door, initially sticking with a traditional wooden colour to mirror the current. As time went on with the quotation being fine tuned our customer came to us with a new outlook to push the project further with the modern facelift. The Eclectic Grey was introduced into the porch area, this choice really stepped up the impact and gave the property a new lease of life! Going for the commitment to add this ultra modern element at first maybe did not feel so natural however it really has made this property unique and added a new sense of character, also reflecting the bold personality of our customers so well! The Flint style Solidor in Painswick links and preserving the original decorative lead work above the front entrance ensure the entrance links back in with the characterful property.
Working with these homeowners has been a joy; every step of the process has been methodically thought out and fine tuned as a team. Entering into upgrading your glazing is an expensive commitment and many factors need to be considered. Our industry offers so much choice and variety in products and designs, the early quoting stages are the key to create a final plan that reflects the property and the homeowner’s character!
