This month we are presenting a fantastic modern extension project we had the pleasure of working on alongside a great local building firm. These homeowners have lived in their family home for over 25 years and made the decision this year to totally revamp the ground floor throughout. Adding an extension and reconfiguring the layout allowing for a stunning open plan living, dining and kitchen area also creating a practical utility and downstairs wet room.
As soon as you walk through the front door your eye is drawn straight through to the rear of the property where natural light floods, it is safe to say the rear of the house is now the heart of the home! This space works so well having the kitchen, dining and living space areas all clearly defined but still working together in the one room.
When we work with customers and their builders to integrate the glazing on a new build project, it is important to be able to suit the customers needs practically along with the style and design vision. Particularly when creating a new hub of the home, it is so easy to over look day to day living, these can be simple decisions like ensuring you have another option of access not only via your large multifold or sliding door. If you have a window above your sink looking into the garden, you do not want to have your vision obstructed by the sash opener, a picture window always works a treat to retain a view!
The decision to go Anthracite Grey both sides on the glazing seemed a natural choice, committing to the modern feel, due to such great natural light the room can defiantly take the bolder statement internally. This industry RAL colour also links the different materials, with the Bifolds being in Aluminium and the single door and window being in UPVC.
The couple chose to keep the décor a fresh white, showing off the beautiful choices made in the hard materials from the internal doors, modern radiators, quality Kardeen flooring and a stunning modern kitchen with gloss stone worktops. The Grey colour tones work together effortlessly with the internal Oak doors and skirting, linking everything back together with the glazing.
